GM elected to serve on Texas Telephone Association Board

VTCI's General Manager Dave Osborn was recently elected to serve as Director for the Texas Telephone Association. TTA was founded in 1905 as an industry association committed to the orderly and professional deployment of telecommunication services throughout Texas. The association keeps its members informed about laws, regulations, and other issues that impact the industry.

Osborn has been assigned to serve on the Legislative Committee. The Committee works closely with the legislative and executive branches of Texas government, state and federal agencies, and other governmental bodies.

"At one time Texas had over 160 telephone companies. However, that number, through acquisitions and merges, is now down to about 59 companies," said Osborn. "Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc. is one of the most progressive independent Telcos in Texas with our Fiber-To-The Home deployment (FFTH) and the successful launch of IP Television service last fall.

"Today's mission centers around deploying current technology, for example, Internet (DSL on copper), video programming, voice (telephony) and security service," said Osborn. "I am honored to have the opportunity, through VTCI, to be part of an association that plays an active role in preparing our rural communities for the future in technology."
